Belhelvie Community Trust (BCT) was formed in October 2014 and became a SCIO in April 2015 (SCO45563) with the purpose of Community Development in the rural parish of Belhelvie which includes settlements of Belhelvie, Balmedie, Potterton, Blackdog and Whitecairns and all homes in between.
Belhelvie Community Trust emerged from the combined ideas of various people in the parish of Belhelvie, who came together to explore how we could work together to support existing community groups and develop new ones in response to identified community need.
There are many things a community can do to help itself, build resilience and create a better place to live. With the best will in the world, all things can’t be done at once and it is one of the jobs of BCT to identify community needs and wishes and with community consultation, turn them into the priorities and actions.
Since its inception, BCT has developed and continued to run new projects and supported other groups and clubs in various parts of the parish. Details of these will be found later in this website as it develops…

Well, that’s the kiosk closed for another season…
Many thanks to Fiona and Joni for producing a fine spread and lovely thank-you cake to mark the end of season at the Bothy this evening.
I just wanted to say a big THANK-YOU to all the Sand Bothy volunteers for all your work this year, keeping the kiosk open and providing refreshments for visitors to the Country Park.
The Bothy is still open for bookings and we have classes on 3rd and 10th November. The next big event for us all will be Santa’s visit on 8th and 9th December, which will be here before we know it…I’ll keep you posted with any developments.
Best wishes to you all
Depending on weather, the Kiosk will be closing until March or April. The Sand Bothy itself however is bookable all year round for classes, small groups and meetings. We don’t do children’s birthday parties or exercise classes, but will consider other requests…
We will be open on 8th and 9th December, when the Bothy transforms into Santa’s grotto – see “events” for further details.
The Sand Bothy is run entirely by volunteers as a facility for local people and for visitors from further afield. Thanks to all our volunteers, and all our supporters too!
